ACDA Children's Choir Festival

The ACDA sponsors an annual Children's Choir Festival for students in grades 4 to 6. This year the festival will take place at Naugatuck Valley Community College on Saturday, October 23rd. The conductor is Henry Leck. If you have a child in 5th grade who is interested in auditioning, please return the information sheet that was sent out this week.

Minstrels

Calling all Royle musicians! The first rehearsal of the Royle Minstrels will be on Thursday, September 10th at 7:30 a.m. in the music portable. By participating in Minstrels, students will learn musicianship skills, sight-reading, proper vocal techniques, and much more. The Royle Minstrels is a great way for students to become involved in music and to explore their talents. Minstrels is open to all students in 4th and 5th grades and meets every Thursday morning. For more information, please read the information letter that went home this week.

Question and Answer Compositions

Students in fourth grade have been learning about question and answer form in music. A question is a phrase (musical sentence) that does not end on "do". An answer is a phrase that ends on "do". The question and answer are usually related in some way. The students paired up to create their own written notation using question and answer form.
